Default 8/13/2019 Cease getting squeezed and Nova goes 9 Sox Split Post Game Thread

From umps not wanting to call his curve slicing the zone to the nonexistent corners today, the kid sure seems to be getting the rookie treatment. He threw pretty well today.

Castillo should have been DFA'd months ago.

In addition to the passed balls, along with the Astros' stolen bases, he dogged it in the second inning and got thrown out at the plate on a two-out single. With two out and basically running on contact, even a slow runner should score easily on a play like that.

Get rid of this bum ASAP.

Cease was OK, you knew they were going to lose the game, Castillo was the big goat. You still have to keep him around. Six weeks is not a long time.

Another great game from Nova and the offense did enough to get the win. Bottom half carried them. I love seeing Tim and Eloy playing the field both halves of the DH. Crucial stuff for their long term development.

Will be nice to get Moncada back soon, but coming down the stretch this team might not be half bad. Tough schedule, but we're light years better than the team that started the season.

Perfect sinker/slider weather after the rains, and Nova was pinpoint with his control. Houston never had a chance.

The starters have been holding up their end of the bargain lately.

It’s real unfortunate Nova couldn’t pitch like this back in April and May.

Eloy is still a danger to himself and others out there. He, Engel, and Anderson were all converging on a popup. He ran between Engel and Anderson to catch it. He's the last one who should be taking it. I thought sure there was going to be a collision.

It seemed to me like Eloy had possibly the best angle on that popup. I had no problems with him catching it. If we want him to be a passable outfielder, he has to be able to make a play like that.

If you ran ERA stats like stock analysis and figured it as a 50-day exponential moving average, giving more meaning to recent performance, you might have a new ace of the staff. He was masterful. Speaking of masterful, Q struck out 14 for the Cubs today. Finally figured out how to put people away instead of getting 0-2 and then pecking away at the corners like he did here. Coaching play any role? BTW, Cubs lost 4-2.

At least he didn't get Max Anxiety after his incident like Willie Harris did after he wrecked Magglio's knee. I didn't see the play, but if he called them off, what the hey. Let him play the game.

Houston's a heck of a ball team. I admire the way they got where they were going, can't help but cheer for them the rest of the way.

They're how old? There is no earthly reason why they shouldn't play both games.

Castillo? Wasn't the rationale fpr signing him all about him being able to handle a young staff? To be that coach on the field?
