Great? No. Serviceable? Lot of them McCann and Flowers come to mind right off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others out there. Karkovice might be another.

And then the "past 5 outings" sample size hit Hansen last night.
All ERAs in excess of 5, WHIPs way above 1.5 in a pitchers' park. Add Henzman - same thing.
If that's the best the Sox have, my point is, unfortunately, true.

Henzman just got promoted and had a very solid outing on Friday in just his 3rd start at AA. The fact you name dropped him here seems at best poor logic...

Walker 2/4

That was Pilkington's 5th start at W-S and it looks like he starting to adjust to the higher level of competition. His 1st and 3rd starts at High A were rough, but he's looked good in the other 3 starts. I know the knock against him is the low velocity on his fastball, but hopefully he finds success nonetheless and perhaps regains some of the velocity that he lost while in college.

Perhaps fellow 2018 draftee Walker is also starting to click at W-S. He's hitting .343 over his last 10 games after a slow start to his promotion to High A.

For Birmingham, Basabe was 2-4 with a double and a HR. Of the AA OF prospects, he's the one that has his options clock ticking. He runs out of options on opening day 2021, so if he can start producing at AA after missing the 1st month of the season, it would be good to see him possibly move up to Charlotte later this year.

Rutherford was 1 for 4 with a triple. Gonzalez and Sheets also had 1 hit each. Robert and Madrigal were each 0 for 3 with a walk.

By the way, Adolfo's option clock is also ticking, but he's getting one extra option year due to time missed from injuries.

Charlotte played the rest of yesterday's game and today's game already.

Lost both 11-6 and 3-2.

Collins was 0/5 overall with BB and SF over all. He got pulled late from second game as catcher. Not sure why. Maybe he's coming up since Castillo is hurt (PURE SPECULATION).
Nicolino had a solid outing though he took the loss 6.1 IP 2 ER 6 K 7 H 0 BB. Might see him as a possible 5th starter later this season, IMO.
Fulmer was on the mound when the winning run crossed the plate he gave up a hit and recorded an out.

WS won 6-2

Frost 1/4 BB 2 R
Walker 1/4 HR 2 R 2 RBI OPS is now .758
Cavanerio 5 IP 1 R 0 ER 5 H 0 BB 5K earned the win
Bullpen pitchers are all 24 but pitched well in general. Arobio just got promoted recently and has been very effective. Still hasn't given up a run in 3 outings with 6 K in 3.2

Rutherford now has a higher batting avg. on the season than Basabe or Luis Gonzalez. He also hit the .600 OPS milestone. It needs to get better, of course, but it's moving in right direction.

Schryver has been pretty good for B'ham this year. He might end up being a good pickup. We acquired him from the Rays for international bonus money last year.

oh, and FWIW, the starting pitcher that the Barons faced today was a top pitching prospect (for the Marlins), Sixto Sanchez.

Your point was "Not a lot of signs with the AA and AAA pitching unfortunately." My response was that two of the pitchers have shown signs lately, pitching well in their past 5 outings. I'm not sure what makes you "unfortunately right".

He's set to report somewhere when he recovers from his bruised heel. A week ago they said he'd be set in 7-10 days so I figure it has to be any day now.

It's the all-star break for Birmingham, Winston-Salem, and Kannapolis. They're all off until Thursday.

The Arizona summer league starts up today.
