In Game 1 today, Rutherford went 3-3 to get his average up to .228. He was stuck around .170 for a long long time, but he's been having multi-hit games lately.

Gonzalez got over .200 weeks ago but has stalled at .227.

Rivera is quietly up to .242.

Forbes is at .250 after going 2-2 with a walk today.

Sheets is at .251 and is finally hitting some homers.

Madrigal had 3 more hits in his second (?) game at AA. OPS is 1.625.
Don't know how a player can regress or progress to a mean when it's their first season at the higher level, so I'm assuming it means they are getting comfortable and starting to find their rhythm.

Sounds like everyone at Birmingham is hitting really well the last week or so (when they haven't gotten rained out)

Adding Madrigal and Robert to the lineup has (no surprisingly) had a positive effect on the rest of the order.

WS is delayed again. Maybe they should just start building an ark...

Birmingham is delayed also.

Charlotte getting smoked early as Jordan Guerrero again pitching batting practice.

Wonder how much of this is due to AAA switching to the MLB baseballs this year. It's not just the fact they are golfballs, but they also reduced the stitching height so it's harder to get spin.

Jake Burger's return, which had been targeted for around June 1, has been delayed by a bruised heel. He's expected to be out 7-10 days.

It's frustrating to see Burger's return delayed even more. Hopefully he will indeed be ready in a week to 10 days.

Another top 30 prospect who hasn't played all season is relief pitcher Tyler Johnson. He looked great at W-S last year: 6 BB and 43 K in 31.0 IP. Batters were hitting .174 against him. He's been out since spring training with a lat strain.

Basabe has returned from the IL and is in the lineup for B'ham's Game 2 today.

Wow!

Madrigal certainly hasn't made the move up to AA look like a big adjustment so far.

I have been hard on Rutherford, I don't see the power coming enough to be better than a Ryan Sweeney type player. That said, everyone does need to calm down on his start. It is no secret AA is the MOST TALENTED level of baseball in the minors. For pitchers you have a TON of future rotation parts in AA, where as AAA is a lot of 4A filler.

Rutherford probably was always going to take a half year to just adjust, and now we find out what kind of mental toughness the kid has.

Basabe is back in action for game 2. They’ve got him hitting 3rd and Gonzalez has been dropped to 7th.

Madrigal with 4 SBs in as many games and Hansen with a clean frame for the save.

Seems like the only thing that can stop Madrigal right now is the crappy Birmingham weather.

The speed on the Sox team in the near future is going to be unlike anything I've seen in 40+ years of fandom. Moncada, Anderson, Madrigal, Robert, and maybe Rutherford/Basabe will put a lot of pressure on opposing teams.
