Default Nick Madrigal

Nicky was promoted to AA Birmingham and his first game last night he went 3 for 4 with 2 SBs. I for one can't wait for this kid to come up to the Sox, he has the potential to be the best leadoff hitter in the history of the team.
And then there's Luis Robert, this kid might be ready right now and it wouldn't surprise me to see him up with the Sox after the All-Star break. The future with these 2 along with Cease is looking a lot brighter.

I remember watching those first videos available of Luis Robert and thinking to myself, "this guy could really be something special". Swings like his only come around once in a great while.

It would surprise me. I think we see him in September and then 3 weeks into next season.

Does September not count toward service time? I thought the clock started for September call-ups.

It does. If the team wants to extend his season by another month this year, that time can be made up by keeping him in the minors until the middle of May instead of the middle of April.

Nick Madrigal would have to make a significant improvement to his power stroke to be better than Ray Durham. He was a damn good leadoff hitter.

I don't think he needs to hit for power to be a great leadoff hitter. As long as he can spray the entire outfield and he has some speed - he will be amazing. Better than Durham? Who knows. Hopefully!

Looks like he might be settling into a groove in AA. After a June where his SLG was not significantly removed from his BA (.372/.462) he's upped his game in July.

His BA is basically the same at .367 but his OBP has climed from .430 to .446 and his SLG has jumped 70 points to .531 (not including tonight I don't think). He has another double tonight, his 6th this month to go with his only HR. His OPS is .977 in July with 6 BB in 49 AB and still only 2 K.
