Default Blue Jays, Donaldson agree on record $23M deal

"This was Donaldson's final year of arbitration eligibility, with the 32-year-old set to become a free agent after this season. He earned $17 million in 2017."

Jose Abreu projects to make somewhere around $17-18 million this year, the same as Donaldson made in 2017. This $23 million provides a comparable for Abreu when he goes into his final year of arbitration in 2019.

The real question is how much these guys will get as free agents after already establishing AAVs north of $20 million in their final years of arbitration.
