Baseball teams generally don't do this, especially at the top of drafts. But later in the draft I'd assume they'd look for more depth in the middle infield.

I agree Adley Rutschman looks awesome. A lot can change between now and next June though. Last year people were worrying the Sox were winning too many games to be able to draft Seth Beer. He ended up not getting drafted until late in the first round.

He was only a shoe-in on this board, for some reason. I really think it was only the name.

This. Most publications did not have a bat-only 1B going first overall, or that high in general.

But what about switch-hitting catchers who can hit for some power, good average, and have plus defense and footwork?

Only way he falls to the Sox is if he gets hurt bad or has a really bad year.

The silver lining to the Sox 5-game losing streak is that they've passed Detroit and Miami and are now tied with the Padres for 3rd in the race to the bottom.

I think the White Sox have the tie-breaker on account of them having a worse 2017.
