Default 2017 special event uniforms unveiled

The color in the Father's Day uniform looks like a little bit like that in the team road uniform from the late 60s.

They don't look very good.

Those are atrocious, but it is a league-wide thing, so you can't blame the Sox. What I don't understand, from a marketing standpoint, is that I would rather purchase a more traditional jersey or hat that the team wears all the time for the same price in lieu of one of these silly one-time event jerseys. Who buys this junk?

The New Era flag on the side of the caps looks dreadful this year too.

My OCD still can't get over the Sox having a white/black half inch border around their road sleeves but a thin black pinstripe down their pants instead of the matching white/black tuxedo stripe.

I'll crawl back into my cave now before someone pipes in that they've never noticed any of this crap.

That would be me.

Why isn't there a 1917 uniform?

All of these are holiday-themed. There is no league-wide celebration of 1917. Other than the HR derby jerseys, I like them all -- especially Independence Day and Memorial Day.

I'm a cap collector (New Era Specifically) and I love the New Era Flag on the hats.

I really do wonder how much money they make off those jerseys and hats. Evidently they're making enough to continue doing it and I suspect it's only a matter of time before the AL and NL All-Star teams start wearing those hideous BP jerseys in the game.

I also wonder if an individual franchise has any say in the design of those uniforms? If so, I would have liked to have seen the Sox try to push for wearing their 1917 World Series uniforms for those days.

What's even worse is that this year, the uniforms are being worn for entire weekends, not just one day. Ugh.

Why, oh why, are they still wearing the '83 uniforms on Sundays?

Yeah, I really like the Father's day one for that reason. I may pick up the cap.
