Not that anyone does either of those things anymore.
Some of us old folks do. Fortunately, my local news and local paper don't cover the Cubs. In fact, in small-town America style, they cover high-school sports more than they do pro!

I worked in local news for awhile and I think that's the trend for local sports coverage in any city that doesn't have a major league team. If you care about pro sports you don't turn to your local news for in-depth coverage, so what can local news provide that you can't find on ESPN or elsewhere? High school and to some extent, college coverage.

Sorry for the hijack!

When they went back to the Sox game, without skipping a beat, Jason Benetti dead-panned: "On behalf of White Sox fans everywhere, 'enough already.'" It was pitch perfect.
WGN is pathetic.

+1 to Benetti.

Nellie, we used to have a great local paper (Chicago suburbs) when I was a kid. It's now a rag. Where I live now, the local paper is great so I know what you're talking about.

Unfortunately the local over the air news I see is Chicago news. These broadcasts are also pathetic.

I wonder if Chris Berman will be in the broadcast booth to say, "And the Cubs' dream to repeat is over..."

Scherzer with a hamstring injury putting his game 1 start in jeopardy.

Sigh...I freaking hate the Cubs.

No kidding.

Cubbie fans are the worst. Ignorant, arrogant loudmouths who spew their condescending put-downs and brags and then often say, "but I'm not a Sox hater..."

Unless something came across today, Dusty said it was simply a precaution yesterday and that he's on track to make his start.

Scherzer said he doesn't know if he'll be ready to start in Game 1, but he should be ready for the NLDS as an MRI revealed he only tweaked his hamstring.

Grain of salt here. Hammy's are unpredictable.

Cubs keep catching breaks. Scherzer now out until Game #3; announced this afternoon.

Washington doesn't want to take a chance...of course this means he'll only be available to pitch once in the series barring rainouts.

Only the Cubs..........

Or he's pitching the close out game if the Nats take first two...but I agree the Cubs have some kind of luck

Maybe the Sox could have the same kind of luck the Cubs have if they got to the playoffs more than once every ten years.

Hendricks pitches a gem, Cubs take game one 3-0.

I bet the Cubs and the under. Hey, if I was wrong, win/win.

Actually hearing that people think Bryzzo is a better duo than Toews and Kane. Never mind that one of them has two more championships and has played together since day one.
