Looks like Sun Times columnist Rapoport couldn't resist the urge to write on this issue. We all know it was predictable, but even he took it a step further with the numerous umpire references

City tense as Southsiders Close to Penant

Many in Chicago fear for their lives and businesses as White Sox are one win away from World Series

"What are we to do when the drug-crazed White Sox fans begin their celebration? I am taking my family out of the city today!" exclaimed a noticeably nervous Wrigleyville resident.
"My God. Those type of people will be out of their minds looting and burning...This may be bigger than the Chicago Fire or the '68 Democratic Convention" raved a patron at Ditkas'.

WGN to show "This Old Cub" and a re-play of the Sandburg Game immediately after "Chicago's Very Own" News at 9pm tonight to help soothe the nerves of Chicago.

Dusty Baker on the Sox:
"Hey, we outdraw them every year. But remember, I can't be the one responsible when our guys lose...they are professionals with the tools. I can't take them by hand. They are big boys. I just show them the way and it is up to them to take it!!" as Dusty reminded the Media who is King in this city.

Unpopular Sox one win away.
- Will umpires give them game 5 too?
- Sox still drawing yawns from most Chicagoans (based on reaction at the Cubby Bear)

Cubs Will Be Team to Beat in '06. Please contact Tribune's Very Own scalper service to buy as many tickets as possible.

Tempo: Readers vote Wrigley Field as the most wonderful place in Chicago in latest Tribune survey (first survey in 3 weeks)

Sporting News: Thousands of empty seats expected at Cell as Sox try to clinch pennant.

WXRT: Coming Monday, Billy Corrigan's Wrigleyville report returns with daily updates of bleacher construction.

Eric and Kathy (Monday): Bears highlights, other than that no other sports news worth even mentioning.

Black and Blue Devils Gang Up on Angels
Unholy alliance of Sox and Umps spells perdition for the rightful ALCS champs

An increasingly suspicious sequence of "missed" calls has put the Sox one step away from what would be the most crooked World Series since you-know-when. Impartial observers at the Tribune believe only a Congressional investigation can get to the bottom of what FOX broadcaster Joe Buck stopped just short of terming a "fix" of the ALCS.

"We've been desperate for a storyline that would hook viewers for this series," Buck confessed. "And painting the White Sox black was just too good to resist. FOX toyed with the idea of emphasizing that America is about to see the first World Series victory in Chicago since early in the 1900s. But we decided to save that for when the Cubs win it, even if that Series is announced by Jack Buck the XIII in the 22nd century."
