Default *Official* 7/21 Covey Goes 8+, Avi Goes Deep Postgamer

Mís announcers said the last complete game by a White Sox pitcher was by Chris Sale, which I guess isnít surprising, though a little depressing. Great catch by Leury in the 9th to preserve the shutout, and my favorite new show is Welcome Back, Avi!

Very fun game. Covey looking solid, Avi going yard, Sox D, especially Yolmer and Leury slinging some leather.

Always nice to get a shutout...

Don't know what to make of Covey. Tonight was an excellent performance though.

Fun game to watch. I love the west coast night games.

Covey was outstanding. Jason said the Sox have not had a complete game since 2016, so it would have been nice to see.

Yeah I was hoping they'd let him get a chance to finish. I've long believed that there's no good reason for pulling a guy throwing a 3-hit or less shutout, but I understand why they wanted him to leave on a positive note.

In fairness, he got a lot of help from his D last night too though. Sanchez was picking hard hit baseballs all game long it seemed. Still, he looked like the guy who showed up in May when he was first recalled. Maybe the extended break (last game pitched was on 7/10) gave him a chance to collect his thoughts, work with Cooper and get back to what he was doing before. Still not sure if he's a long term fit and wouldn't mind trading him if he can bring back value, but for now it's nice to see him have a good outing.

Nice job by the Rule 5 Battery.
Omar is really hitting. He had a great eye last year and now he's putting it together; few homers but he cranks some deep doubles.
Good rebound by Covey, although he wasn't as bad in Cincy as his numbers suggested- , but mostly hard grounders that got through and one liner that was misplayed into a ball that rolled to the wall.

Was throwing nasty, nasty sinking stuff with nice velocity on the high end and good location. They were hitting it in the air later in the game, tho. Don't forget about Covey as a future piece. Sorry I nodded off before it was over.

The current catchers make you think Castillo was a waste.
