Leury in CF
Delmonico in LF
Avi in RF when he returns
Tilson and Engel are triaged out.

I'm not gonna lie. This idea disgusts me.

That group won't catch many balls that's for sure.

Tilson and Engel can't hit and have never hit. Engel hasn't hit close to well enough to be even a 5th OF. And if there is a thread of hope for Engel, he's more likely to find it in AAA where he can develop a consistent hitting approach.
Leury might be able to hit acceptably, so see what he can do in CF, which is where is value would lie if he can play it.
Delmonico hit well for 6 weeks last season. Give him another 2 months.
It's just auditions to see who is a keeper, who has value. Wheeling Engel out there game after game doesn't enhance that.

I don’t see that thread of hope. Engel is 26. His “development” is done.

I have seen enough of him to think that he is a bad OF at all 3 spots, and like you say, his bat only profiles in CF. Plus, his defense would need to be much better than it is to make that bat passable in CF. Really, his best offensive contribution is his ability to steal bases, which is kind of specialized.

Juan Minaya was good for a few weeks last season as well. He showed us all his true ability this year. I expect Delmonico to do the same. Plus, he’s another bad defensive OF.[/i]

The only value these guys provide is buying time for real players to develop. Dome has the right idea.

Not much to do with Jiminez and MLB readiness. Okay then.

I haven't seen him play but he's simply wrecking AAA since coming back from his injury. He's posting a .968 OPS currently for Charlotte BEFORE his 3-hit game tonight. His SLG is back to closet to .600 or might be over after this game.

He's not just knocking on the door...

He hasnít missed a beat since coming off the DL, and I think the next six weeks are just a formality, but letís re-evaluate on Labor Day.

Missed a beat? He seems to be even better. Sometimes a little break can do that, give a guy a chance to catch his breath so when he comes back he is calmer and more settled.

I just posted in the minor league thread I could see them calling him up sooner. Teams like to give players a call-up when they are hot and you don't get any hotter than Eloy is right now.

I mentioned this is another thread, but I think he gets called up in August. I think you're right, there's not much more he can show in Charlotte but I figure the organization views this as an extended rehab stint until after the deadline.
