Tilson has only had about 100 ABs up here. His SLG sucks. But I can live with his .331 OBP hitting 9th or even leading off for this lost season.
I would much rather have the 20 or so extra outs in the outfield than the 30 or so extra trips to 1B. Plus, I donít expect Tilsonís OBP to stay at .331, so I think that gap will shrink even more as the season winds down.

Just happy that Tilson appears to be finally healthy this season. Don't think there's much of a future for him though due to the aforementioned players that could be coming back/coming up next season and beyond.

I'm all for sending Tilson down for good even if it means we stay at 24.

Just curious, are your numbers based on actual statistics? i.e., there are statistics that show that Engel is worth 20 more outs in CF than Tilson? Also even given those numbers, I'm not sure I understand your logic, since 30>20. Is the idea that of those 30 outs that Tilson turns into hits, some could be going for extra bases, whereas Tilson's hits have less chance of going for extra bases?

I'm not picking on you, I really just want to understand the math/logic.

Delmonico didn't start yesterday in AAA, so it's probably him.

Is Delmonico out of options?

For the fielding outs I used Statcasts’s Outs Above Average. Engel’s +12 trails only Billy Hamilton’s +14 and Ender Inciarte’s +13 in all of MLB. Tilson is at a -5, which IMO matches the “eye test.” He has not been good out there in LF.

For the 30 outs, I just used their OBPs and pro-rated it over 500 plate appearances.

This team is 30 games under .500 right now. Extra baserunners are not doing anybody any good. On the other hand, extra defensive outs speed up games and get bad bullpen pitchers off the mound faster.

Engel has 9 lives. He sucks. I'd much rather have Tilson patrolling CF.

No argument here, but in the words of the immortal Lewis Black, our choice here is really between two bowls of ****. The only difference is the smell.

Maybe they didn't have an option, but with Palka already on the active roster, I'd rather have Tilson than Delmonico. Tilson is a better bench option as a pinch runner or defensive replacement (for Palka) I guess LaMarre shouldn't be purchasing any green bananas. As soon as Avi comes back . . .

Gross.

I would much rather have Tilson than Delmonico, for the same reason that I would much rather have Engel than Tilson.

None of those guys are major leaguers, so it really doesnít matter. These are just warm bodies while we Rachel Phelps this season.
