How about that? A series in which almost everything went right. Yeah, it was Detroit, but still.

Nova was Super. And Anderson and McCann seemed to have found their juju.

Default *OFFICIAL* 8.7.19 POSTGAMER...3 out of 4 ain't bad.

Sox took the series, I really wanted the sweep.
Nice outing by Nova, he's done very well lately, ERA at 4.80 which isnt great by all means but he was I think around 6.50 not too long ago.
Timmy 4 for 4, up to .323.
Jose with 2 more ribbies.
Upcoming homestand is going to be tough with Oakland and Houston, 3-3 would be great.

All in all an excellent series. Solid pitching from Giolito/Cease/Nova, TA was en fuego, and Eloy seems to be coming around as do McCann and Abreu. Skole had a nice first few games, Leury continued to be solid, even Goins looks like he could be a solid reserve.

And the bad parts - mainly Santiago/Covey are crap that won't be here so don't matter.

EDIT: Would like to see the D substantially improved tho.

Loving what I am seeing here.

Too bad we can't play the Tigers everyday . probably won't be as much fun against the A's and Astros . just glad to have Anderson back . hopefully Moncada is back Sat or Sunday, but maybe against the Astros . Abreu hitting again . glad that Eloy got a hit in his last at bat until Friday, as he seemed pretty stressed until then.

According to Benetti and Stone the Sox are currently on a 39 inning run without being retired 1-2-3. Cordell getting plunked in the 9th kept the streak alive. It's the team's longest streak since 1974 or something and started in the final game of the Phillies' series. So yes they just went through the entire Tigers's series without being retired in order a single time.

I was listening in my car and my hearing still doesn't catch everything but I thought they said the record was 41 innings, but maybe that's the longest streak this year. Maybe someone else can elaborate.

I noticed he's not run since coming back off the DL. He's probably being cautious.

He was definitely moving a whole lot faster on the basepaths today than he was when he first came back

Scary stat: The Tigers' home record is 14-39, which is worse than every MLB team's road record this year.

Not the team's longest streak. MLB's longest streak.

Very encouraging to see Anderson get back on track. There was some concern that his scorching hot first few months were a bit of an anomaly but he's shown that he can work his way out of a slump and come back from an injury. That's great news for the rebuild.

Getting rid of that August waiver trade deadline is really screwing us. Nova would have been a prime candidate for a waiver period deal.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of that move. What was MLB's logic for getting rid of the waiver trade deadline?
