Default Banuelos MRI comes back clean

He's Day to Day and might make his next start on Monday.

I'm glad that nothing was found.

He's been good once or twice as a starter, and absolutely brutal the last 3-4 times out. Not really so anxious for him to make another start.

Wonder if it's going to be Cease. I hope they don't do it out of need, but there is no one else at AAA remotely showing anything at all.

No. Cease pitched tonight.

Charlotte's starter on the 15th was Jordan Guerrero. Birmingham's was Bernardo Flores. Both would be pitching on proper rest, but neither is on the 40-man roster.

Ross Detwiler pitched for Charlotte on the 14th and was actually good. He's not on the 40-man either, but they wouldn't be worried about sneaking him through waivers when they send him back down.

They can sneak him through, but since he has over 5 years of service time, he can refuse the assignment if he chooses.

As for creating a 40-man roster spot, Carlos Rodonís spot would open once he is transferred to the 60-day DL.

Who knows when Banuelos is coming back. Should be whoever they can get up here and plan to keep for a while.

Like him as a long reliever/spot starter for now- see if you catch lightening in a bottle with Detwiler- at least for a few starts- give Cease a few more turns before you call him up.

Detwiler will be awful. One good start in Charlotte does not mean a thing in a long career of awful.

Bringing him up to be cannon fodder is one thing, but hoping to catch lightning in a bottle is delusional.

Glad it's not anything super serious with Banuelos. Dude has had some serious arm issues in his career.

They are playing the Astros in Houston. Does it really matter who starts? Might as well give Yolmer the ball. Or Bafia.

Let's see how Giolito and Lopez do against Houston (although I guess Lopez won't pitch against them). That will provide insight.

Bafia rocks! Do you think Bafia has the slightest inkling that people are currently talking about him on the interwebs!
