Youíre writing off Houston?

That's fine - they can have him. Prefer that the Yanks rent from NL teams so the young players would leave the league, but at least they are out of NY.

The best outcome for the Sox would be to send Soria and whomever else to the Tribe or Twins....our farm improves while our closest competition deteriorates.

Yeah I'd be careful handing it all to NYY/BOS yet. Happ doesn't change the fact that as far as the playoffs go, the Yankees starting pitching behind Severino is highly questionable. Boston's been rolling, but Houston's been there before too, and their offense can put up just as much firepower as Boston's, and with a much better rotation. Cleveland hasn't look great, but when you can roll out Kluber, Bauer, and Carrasco twice in a 7 game series, anything can happen.

The NL appears a lot weaker as a whole, but between Atlanta, Philly, Milwaukee, and the whole NL West being within a few games of each other, seems like this could be one of the fresher postseasons we've had in a few years.

Isn't this still speculation at this point? Everything that I've seen says that the industry belief is that the Yankees and Brewers are the frontrunners to land Happ, but nothing is official.

I jumped the gun on Happ.

And I forgot about Houston! They are still right in the mix.

It's official. The Blue Jays have traded A.J. Happ to the Yankees for INF Brandon Drury and OF Billy McKinney, the Yankees #20 prospect.

The Yankees make yet ANOTHER deal without giving up a serious prospect.
Next they'll pawn off Bird and Ellsbury.

Moose to the Brewers for Brett Phillips and Jorge Lopez...

The Brewers are expected to move Travis Shaw to 2B.

The non-waiver trade deadline is 3:00pm Chicago time today.

Yeah this was definitely a head scratcher for me. Selling low for sure on a controllable asset that plays a premium position, who was great in '17 too. They got nothing back for him from an organization that has lots of interesting prospects.

Apparently there was bad blood between him and the front office.
