I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned here, unless I missed it. The Sox are partnering with Oak Park, Elmhurst, Downers Grove and Orland Park to provide uniforms for youth baseball. The teams in each league will wear variations of the Sox unis through the years.

This is a great move!! Not only as a community service, but you may influence a generation of kids to be Sox fans just because they wore the uni in little league. They should expand this to a lot of other communities as well.

Boo ****ing hoo. "Mourning the loss of each team's legacy"!?
I didn't realize the t-ball team that Cayden, Braeden, or Aiden played for during one summer while they were 8 years old were the '27 Yankees. They have a lot to worry about in Oak Park. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/l...,2770315.story |

This is the same thing they did in San Diego and it saves money. They'll get over it.

It's a little weird, really, for every team to have Sox in their name somehow. No matter what team sponsored them, it's odd. "What team do you play for, Timmy?" "White Sox Yellow." It's not THAT big of a deal, but it is strange.
Of course, when I was in Little League, our teams had MLB names and we wore that team's cap, but our jerseys had the name of our sponsor on the front. (I was on the Pirates but my jersey said Zemsky Bros.) I think some sort of White Sox patch on the shoulder would have been a decent compromise, along with one team obviously being the White Sox. |

If they don't like it then the parents should fund the league themselves. The Sox are giving them money and they are complaining.

Good Job, White Sox!

That is an awesome gesture! I'm sure the kids will appreciate the uniforms.
