Default Jean Shepherd's White Sox story

Not sure if this has been posted before, but it's a story from Jean Shepherd's America TV show which ran in the late 1970s. It's his story about how his father was responsible for the Sox losing a game to the Yankees.

Bel-Air Drive In Romeoville. Went there as a child and later on as an adult.

Rt. 53 & Romeo Rd.

Decided to be a killjoy and try to find this game--no luck...can't find any 8th or 9th inning Gehrig homers in games started by Lyons in the 30s when Bonura and Appling were around, let alone Mike Tresh.

He also claimed 70,000 people were in attendance, so perhaps he was embellishing some of the facts, not knowing in 30 years that we'd be able to check his facts on something called retrosheet

It looks like Gehrig had six homers off Lyons.

Shepard said he was eight or nine years old at the time. He was born in 1921. So it may have happened between '28-'31.

Edit- Checking the the play by play and the score, this isn't it. The Sox were trailing already going into the 9th.
