A good choice, but not an especially popular one among Astros fans who wanted former players Tim Bogar/Brad Ausmus or Dave Martinez.
Glad that GM Jeff Luhnow hired who he thought was the best guy and not the best former Astro. Hopefully he can get him some better players soon. I'm hopeful Singleton and Cosart start with the big club next year and some of the other top prospects start filtering their way onto the big league roster. |

They didn't need more former Astros around. |

They're moving into the best division in baseball so it actually might still get worse

Their payroll is rock bottom and Crane still needs fans to show up to see the AL baseball they didn't want, so a few low-end/short term/fan friendly signings could help, such as the rumored signing of Lance Berkman for DH. They really need some major league arms in the rotation and the pen, guys they could deal away for something decent when the rookies arrive to take those roles. Not saying they'd be good by any means, just better than 100 losses - without jeopardizing a high draft pick the following year. |

I forgot, were the Astros giving any compensation for switching leagues? I mean that's a huge jump for a completely lifeless team.

Bud only ate a few million off of Jim Crane's purchase price (and allegedly swept some of Crane's shady business practices under the rug for the approval vote) in order to sell Astros fans down the river.

I don't think they'll lose 100 games next year; and, honestly, perhaps with better decisions here and there, they wouldn't have this year.
I am confident that they will be better. But they need a rotation. |
