Default What the hell Tribune??

Am I missing pages in my Sunday sports section? Nothing whatsoever on the white sox? No articles? No game recap? No general notes section? Not even a season stats table?

I am really at the point where the only reason I get the trib is the Sunday comics for the kids.

Nope, not a word. Good bye Trib...

My Trib had a tiny strip of a column buried in the middle of the sports section, with a postage stamp-sized photo of Rodon exiting the game, a recap, and a box score.

Of course I don't live up there anymore but it could be that some of you had an earlier edition and SOX ADDICT has the 4 Star Final Edition.

When we did live up there we got the 3 Star home delivery edition and that edition only had the early box scores from games in the eastern time zone. I might be wrong as we've been in Florida 25 years and the Tribune probably has changed a lot of things but I'm sure their negative bias toward the Sox has remained.

Suppressing a story about a lifeless performance where The Ace wets the bed might be doing us a favor. Do we really want it advertised? BTW, I didn't have it in my paper either.

What is the Tribune? I remember a newspaper thingy about twenty years ago that my grandfather used to read that might have been called the Chicago Tribune but it was so long ago that I can't remember....

Yeah, I had someone complain about sports radio to me the other day and I had a similar reaction - someone's still listening?

We are all Sox fans here but we have to come to the fact that maybe, just maybe one small column is all the White Sox deserve at this time. Bears are doing good, Cubs are marching into the playoffs again, the Bulls and Hawks are ready to start their seasons and the White Sox have a 100 loss season. Sadly it truly is about what they deserve now.

Yeah, it what we White Sox fans deserve. After all the Cubs were afforded that same treatment in 2012/2013.

Sorry, you're paid to cover the team. There are White Sox fans with Tribune subscriptions... ...for the time being.

When you don't even have a beat reporter for the team, how much do you really care?

Well, they don't actually pay anyone to cover the team.

In an industry that has such horribly shrinking margins, they cut the Sox coverage. Clearly to them they did not think the price was worth whatever revenue they are gaining.

It may not be "fair", but from a business standpoint it is understandable.

The problem is though the Tribune and other news / media organizations are supposed to be "above" the pure business standpoint.

The rules say they are licensed to "serve the public" the rules do not say they are supposed to or entitled to make a profit. The presumption is that if they do their job well they will make money hand over foot.

What the Tribune is doing is journalistically and ethically wrong, just pure horse**** (and yes having been in the business for almost 40 years I still believe in those things)

EVERY newspaper is putting profit over everything these days. It's the only way they can survive anymore.
