Lowrie is 36 next year and was injured all last season. Your utility guy should be dependable enough with health during the year as he is around to fill in for injured regulars.

And yeah, McGee's addition very well could make them worse. He was awful last year. A far better plan would be to see who pitches well from the Hamiliton/Burdi/Ruiz/Heuer/Fulmer/etc group in ST, then acquire a RP or 2 at the deadline who is pitching well.

No one has said this is going to be a decade plus period of success, so you can just stop right there.

And no, it's not the perfect time to take bad players from teams that don't want them for middling prospects. The Sox are trying to make the playoffs, getting bad/injured players does not get them closer to that goal.

You just want them to spend money to spend it.
I would be totally fine with over half that group not even making it to spring training, let alone competing for a big-league job.

So you want at least one of Burdi/Heuer/Hamilton to not even be invited to ST?

Zack Burdi and Cody Heuer should be in minor league camp.

Burdi was in AAA in 2016, no reason for him not to be in MLB ST if he's healthy.

How about the little issue of him not being good enough?

That little family secret isn't mentioned enough around here. Talent evaluation, ugh, again.

No one here has joined such a "club" or has come out expressing that the Chicago White Sox are bound for absolute unquestioned success.

Burdi would have been in Chicago in 2017 if we didnít white flag that offseason and then the TJ came. His issue is health.

His issue is not throwing enough strikes.

He's healthy now.

You're worried about him even being invited to ST to compete for the last spot in the bullpen because of "not being good enough", but want to pay McGee $10mil when we already know he's "not being good enough". You're just full of logic.

It's really not. Every kid needs to refine command, but he's not that wild.

Until he shows he can throw strikes, he should be in AAA.

Carlos Rodon and Zack Burdi are basically dead to me. I expect nothing from either of them going forward. At this point, I would consider any positive contribution whatsoever by either of them to be a pleasant surprise.
