Team is coming together nicely to compete immediately while still retaining all the pieces for the future.

This season he hit .249 with 13 HR's. For that kind of money, this is a bad signing.

What the Sox need is more pitching, not another power hitter, so even if he was in his prime, it would not be what the team needs in order to contend. Remember, Giolito has had only one good season and it is by no means certain that he will ever repeat what he did this season.

Those numbers were with the Yankees, who traded for him in June. He hit 34 HRs last year.

He hit 13 homers with the Yankees. He hit 34 total home runs in 2019.

Can't argue with that.

EE played a little 1B - don't know how well, but glad he's not a pure DH.

I stand corrected.

However, this team already has quite a bit of power hitting. What it needs most is more pitching, especially with the bullpen.

No one said they were done.
This move is a great DH pickup.

The Sox have been extremely active and the offseason isn’t over.

I hate the pants pissing posts in December. The Sox production at the DH spot was abysmal last year, so they absolutely needed an upgrade there.

I’d rather have Edwin Encarnación over:
Yonder Alonso
AJ Reed
Wellington Castillo
Matt Skole

The White Sox were 25th in team home runs last year. At least by the standards of last year, we very much did NOT have quite a bit of power hitting.

I agree they need more pitching but EE on a one year deal will help support that lineup.

As others have said: this doesn't mean the White Sox are finished.

Good signing.
