My condolences to Far West Chicago’s family and friends, and a posthumous thank you to FWC for making WSI possible.

Tonight, I just happened to think to myself "it's been months since I've visited WSI", and the thought occurred to me just 4 hours after this thread was posted. Call it a coincidence if you want.

This site has been an outlet for my fandom for 17 years. When I joined, I was a just a passionate little 8th grade Sox fan wanting to argue about how Paul Konerko was better than Mike Cameron. RIP West, and thanks for providing me with this place to talk about my Sox with like-minded people for over half of my life.

My condolences to Michelle and the family of FWC. He built an awesome website and gave us a great platform to commiserate and celebrate our love and passion for this team. Thanks for the memories and RIP.

i am so sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences to Michelle and family.

Personally, this board has meant so much to me. Not just to celebrate and commiserate about our Sox, but also as a haven away from the many troubles/stresses of my own life - even if for just a few minutes each day. I didn't know about FarWest's leadership of this site, but I am so glad he was there and it definitely made a difference for this Sox fan beyond just baseball.

Thank you.

So very sad to hear this. I guess we all take this board for granted and really don't know what goes on behind the scenes. May FWC rest in peace.

Such sad news. I wish Michelle and the family nothing but the best during this terrible time.
I rarely post here, but he gave me, and so many more people, a place to share our fandom and argue/celebrate the team we love. I am so appreciative for this site and all of the love he gave to it for so long.

How awful! Cancer really does suck - what a horrible disease.

I appreciate all that FWC did to make this site possible over the years and it saddens me to hear that his life was cut short by this disease.

I've had the pleasure of being a member of this amazing community for a long time. Thank you "West."

My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle and their circle of friends and family. There is an entire community of Sox fans who send their love and respect.

I echo Rocky's sentiments. A long overdue "thank you" to West for this site and my condolences to his family and friends. It would be fitting to have a WSI Moment of Silence in his memory on Opening Day.

I really have no idea, but should we set up a WSI donation / go fund me for the family? I don't want to pry, but happy to help if needed.

I also love this idea. A nice flower arrangement or donation in his name from all of us would be great.

I will reach out to Michelle after the funeral to ask if there is a charity we could donate to in Michael's honor.
