Default Sox Fest 2020

New Venue this year---anyone going?

I will be there as usual, have to admit while the idea of putting it somewhere like McCormick place is enticing I have concerns (based on past experience) of how well the Sox will plan and execute

also stinks that the Sunday portion is a goner

Once they changed the venue, I decided to go for the first time in over a decade.

Son-of-tebman and I will be there. We're anxious to meet Gerrit Cole.

I'll be there. Believe it's my 12th in a row. Curious about the new venue.

I'd like to see it just for the entertainment value of seeing certain posters on this board going after management during Q&A.

The Sox announced today that two-day and Saturday-only passes are sold out.

I find that odd considering SoxFest is at spacious McCormick Place this year. Perhaps they had a cutoff so it doesn't get overcrowded. Or perhaps they announced it today for the heck of it to stick it to the Cubs, whose convention has not sold out this year.

In past years, the Sox usually announced a "sell-out" right before the event. I never believed it was truly sold out. I think they announced it just for the P.R.

In any case, I'm looking forward to attending both days.

Maybe they've indeed sold more passes this year because fans are genuinely excited about this team?

I think that's probably true, but I thought one of the reasons they moved to McCormick Place was to be able to sell an almost endless number of tickets.

I doubt they have the whole main room and every space has limitations. Plus doesn't matter how many you can cram in, there is still a limit to how many autographs can be signed. The only events that would have close to unlimited access would be the talks and Q&A sessions. Everything else is limited to how many people can go through a line in the time allotted.

Any reason why? You didn't like the setup the past few years?

I don't know what to expect this year.

The hotel venue was too small, too packed, and, at least years ago, too disorganized.

Anything held at McCormick should take care of the first two of those three things, and hopefully the third, too.

I probably agree. The Hilton was very cramped & compact while McCormick Place should be the total opposite. It will be interesting this year and I'm curious about how the atmosphere will be. I will say that last year seemed pretty well organized. But I'm not an autograph seeker so those folks might disagree.
