Default Shields / Rodon updates...

News isn't great for Shields, so much for that "quick" recovery and Rodon's is becoming more and more head scratching every day:

I still understand the secretive nature of these injuries. The Sox know whats wrong, the players know, their agents know, I dont get why its not public knowledge.

Being a professional athlete does not strip you of your medical privacy rights.

Im aware of that but why wouldnt a player not want to disclose a normal baseball related injury?

Would you want to tell the world about your personal medical history, especially as it relates to your job?

Why should it be public knowledge? The NHL is even more vague on injuries (upper body or lower body, the rest is a secret).

Rodon will be ready when he is ready. If we knew where he is in his recovery, that will not change anything.

There also are competitive reasons to be secretive about the nature of injuries.

Every team is as secretive about injuries as it can be.
