I don't know and neither do you. You don't want the answer to contradict your claim so you are dismissing it as impossible with no proof at all. I don't know how to respond to something like that because it's an argument based on your personal feelings and not on any kind of real world data.

There were reports of other teams being interested when the trade went down.

There is also reason to believe Mazara will at minimum be a highly productive LH platoon player without breaking the bank.

That is what we know.

There were reportedly 3 other teams that were interested. It sounds like the Rangers were done with him and were going to move him no matter what. So yes, the Sox would have likely missed out on Mazara. And this place would have been fuming for the past 2 months that they hadn't signed Castellanos or Ozuna yet to an $80-million deal.

Ozuna can barely play left field, let alone right field. There was no fit with the Sox.

I agree this is probably the biggest reason (outside money) the Sox didn't pursue either Ozuna or Castellanos. With Eloy in left, that would be putting a lot of pressure on Robert as a rookie. Mazara isn't a gold glover but he's better than those two.
