Companies like MLB that have a huge public image are very wary of these kinds of situations and even more so today as these accusations become public on an increasing rate.

Have these other players pleaded guilty to felony sexual assault on a minor?

I know. It's a thorny issue to be sure. Ceser Cedeno plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter (as an adult) in 1973 when a gun he was handling discharged and killed his girlfriend. He played 13 more seasons. Times have changed.

MLB has public relations/marketing concerns the other industries you list do now have. How often do you know the full background of the employees of the restaurant you are at for dinner or the guy selling you a car?
