Maybe this is for the Minor League thread, but Zack Burdi has a tear in a ligament in his patella and is out for the year per James Fegan

Hahn has said that Anderson will be out 4 to 6 weeks per James Fegan. Also per Fegan, Ryan Burr and James Lambert both had Tommy John surgery. Not sure if that was previously known.

It would be like calling up Cease then skipping his start to give Covey a turn. Given what the rest of the lineup looks like tonight, I do find it particularly baffling.

I'm not freaking out, I just don't think it makes any sense, even for one game.

The Sox don't generally use their BU catcher as DH though they have more recently. Collins isn't going to play every day no matter what.

You guys are freaking out over nothing. I mean it is simply ridiculous the amount of angst this is generating. At the very least can we wait and see how it goes. Palka earned the right to be given another crack.

I swear, it's like "OMG THE SOX AREN'T DOING EVERYTHING EXACTLY AS I SAY THEY SHOULD BE! WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH THEM?!?!?!?"

and Palka hasn't even taken a single AB yet...

Correct, Palka did pretty darn good in Charlotte and deserves another shot.

Combined with the news of Burdi"s knee injury, this is shaping up as a bad day. And the game hasn't started yet. Twins played an 18 inning game yesterday. Their bullpen is worn out, but Berrios is starting so it may not matter.

I am surprised that Collins isn't starting, but whatever . totally shocked by Anderson's "4 to 6 weeks " . i just want to get this series over with, as it's not going to be pretty . god, i hope Moncada will not be out for too long . watching Anderson, Moncada, Jimenez, and Giolito is what i look forward too so far this year.

The possibility of that plus no Anderson and maybe no Moncada, if Eloy gets a day off I may just leave after the patio party lol

We stayed. Wouldn’t really split lol.

That said I’m looking at Rondon and he has to go, .189 OPS barely north of .500....we have kids at triple a who could do that

He’ll homer since I typed that

Merkin's injury update. Nothing much new from what has already been discussed, but he does mention that Covey's status:

Rondon can't hit and was never very good. He'll be back on the bench when Yoan is ready (hopefully this weekend). Kelvin Herrera, on the other hand . . . . I thought he had turned a corner after that great outing to close out the win against NYY, but he's been brutal since that game. What do you do with him?

The whole point of obtaining him was to flip him. That ainít gonna happen. But weíll need bodies. Stuck with him.
