Default Crain's ERA goes up without making an appearance

Sort of not making an appearance. More like a delay.

MLB reviewed a play from April 29th and took away an error by Alexei and made the play a hit resulting in earned runs.

What next for us?????

Ah but Alexei's error total went down, so that's the good to balance the bad...

It used to be that the scorer and league had only 24 hours to change a scoring decision before it was irreversible. That was in section 10 of the rulebook. I don't know when that changed.

It seems odd that the league can overturn week-old scoring decisions, if that is what I am reading. And it seems odd with all the questionable scoring decisions I've seen, I haven't read about such changes more often. In 1976 when Ken Brett lost a no-hitter against the Angels with two outs in ninth on a ground ball that third baseman Jorge Orta bobbled, it seemed everyone appealed to the scorer (I think he was a Long Beach reporter) to change the ruling, and I don't believe anyone reviewed it.

Say if Morneau doesn't come up with a throw in the dirt and Morel beats out the ground ball to lead off the ninth against Liriano on Tuesday, that probably would have gone for a hit, at least the Twins announcers believed as much. I can't believe such a decision one way or another, could be appealed to the league to take away or grant a no-hitter.
