Just curious - what signs of immaturity have you seen, or what types of things would you like to see out of him that would show maturity?

After Frazier has moved and if/when Moncada is called up, our infield of Davidson/Anderson/Moncada/Abreu with Smith behind the plate, has to be one of the worst defensive infields we've ever put out there (rivaling our late 70's outfield with Garr in LF and Claudell Washington in RF).
I don't think I've ever seen so many starting pitchers not make it past the 4th inning (or the 5th), the White Sox must be approaching some kind of record for starts < 5 full innings.
I can't stand the early 80's uniforms any more- I thought the Sox valued "their brand". but seems like we have a hodge podge of the current one, the early 80's and that weird hat that has a version of teh "Bill Veeck batter" that we never actually used.
I'll be in NC this week- hoping to get to games in Kannapolis and Winston Salem to get a little hope.
I totally agree. Those uniforms are so tacky and ugly. They're fine for very occasional throw-back days, but the Sox have used them to death as Sunday regulars over the last several years. I really am sick of seeing them.

The only thing the Sox need to do, then, is not assume that their middle infield is set, and therefore not pass up an opportunity to draft a shortstop in the 2018 and 2019 draft if said shortstop is the best player available.
I agree - give him time. He's young and a lot - a lot- of good players take a while to pull it together. Some good infield instruction would help too.

As for the draft, they shouldn't draft for position ever. (that's been part of the ongoing problem of these blah drafts). Get the best player you can and make trades later.

Still doesn't seem to be a patient hitter. It doesn't appear to me that he's looking for a particular pitch when he goes to the plate. Then, when gets behind in the count, he chases balls out of the zone. Seasoned hitters are generally confident that they will see one good pitch during an "at bat" and they will usually exercise patience until they see it. It also seems he has moments when he carries some of his offensive failures out to the field with him. He needs to do a better job of focusing on the issue at hand.

Perhaps the word "confidence" is more appropriate. But confidence is usually acquired after becoming successful by going through periods of failure. Maturity is the by-product of those experiences.

I agree. I think they're trying hard and have high character - I just don't think they're very good at baseball.

I'm going to cut him some slack this season.
  • He's playing on a terrible team
  • He's still very young
  • He's super athletic
  • He lost his best friend not too long ago.

In a couple seasons he isn't showing improvement, then it'd be time to move on.

Anderson's performance this year is about par for the course for White Sox-drafted position players over the last decade or so. I hope this is just a sophomore slump and he turns it around eventually. Maybe he needs more time in AAA?

Meanwhile, up next for the Sox are the 64-29 Dodgers. They're on pace to win 111 games.

I believe Anderson will be ok.

As for the Dodgers tonight I would not be surprised to see the White Sox give them a game.

And the White Sox continue to confound by playing the Dodgers and Kershaw tough after coming off a bad series. Inconsistency is their consistency.

A good game for Anderson too.

Lets see some improvement from here on out.
