Sucks to lose, but Giolito was really good today.

A reminder that we don't have nearly enough talent in the majors to compete with the big boys, or even the medium boys. Good enough is never enough with this group. Not sure how we continue to enslave ourselves to this losing.

I got that reminder on Friday. I thought they played pretty well today.
Wish Soria had pitched like this on Thursday.

Sox played well the first and last games of the series. Nice to see bounce back efforts from Gio and Soria. I hope Avi is ok. He's been tearing it up.

Gio pitched very well.

Saw where it was the first time in franchise history where the Astros swept a season series from a team of seven games or longer.

Hope Avi is OK as well, he's had a lot of hamstring issues. He needs to play and stay hot so he can be shipped out in two weeks for something decent.

Story the post game story at the Sox website and RR was quoted as saying it was the same hamstring and he felt "tightness" in it.

Losing games 2-1 to the Dallas Keuchels of the world is going to happen to even the best of teams. Giolito hung in there as best he could, retiring 22 batters and keeping the bad bullpen at bay. The speed with which he rebounds from bad starts is starting to get faster and faster, which is encouraging.

The efforts on Friday and Saturday are the real problem here. They are more indicative of just how far this team still needs to go to compete with a team like Houston.

Giolito pitching well is a good sign. We have to take the good things as they come.

Hopefully these are signs of things to come.

Per Benetti and Stone this was the first time in White Sox history that the team has been swept in a season series of 7 games or longer. That's even longer than the cubs drought between world series wins!

He's been more consistent. Posted an ERA under 5.0 in June. It's up again in July but he's showing more life than he did the first two months. We'll see how it goes.

I fear he's going to get tagged as a china doll and the best offers from other GMs will be guys whose ceiling is AAAA filler. At that point you're trading just to make a trade.

Also, Moncada got another hit and scored a run. He extended his hit streak to 7 games. He looks a lot more comfortable at the plate lately. Hopefully, another good sign.

Only one start- but pretty impressive performance from Giolito yesterday-sure would help confidence in the rebuild if he can prove to be a competent/back of the rotation starter in the 2nd half.

With these recurring hamstring issues- I don't see Avi having much trade value at the deadline- but what an impressive run prior to being pulled yesterday.

Looking at stats for the last 30 days- other than the Garcias, Kevan Smith and Tilson (the last 2 with almost zero power), NO ONE is hitting- with Abreu, Palka, Davidson, Engel and Sanchez all at .217 or lower. (Abreu and Palka <.200)

No worries. Theo, the guy who signed Yu Darvish instead of Arrieta, will offer up Bryant for him.

I think Theo like china and porcelain.
