Robert hits a triple then takes home on an error: https://twitter.com/knightsbaseball/...778843137?s=21

Probably a double at most if the ball is fielded correctly but he took advantage of every error with heads up baserunning. I love it. Call him up now.

Itís nice to have five players in the Top 50, but it falls off after that.

Stiever is the biggest riser, and Walker has leapfrogged the AA OFs.

Itís about what one would expect from a system that has suffered a disproportionate number of both freak injuries and Tommy John surgeries.

To build a self-sustaining talent supply, itís now on Chris Getz and the player development people to grow the talent we have in the lower levels of the system, and to rehab all the injured players in the upper levels.

Finally.

Vaughn at #3 in our system is surprisingly high. Stiever at #8 is a very pleasant surprise. Thompson and Dalquist are at #15 and 16, probably fair.

Is this the first appearance for Mendick on the list (#27)?

I am surprised to see Walker #7. He hasn't impressed me. His season at Winston-Salem looks a lot like Rutherford's 2018, which is to say that most of the other outfielders had better seasons at W-S. If I'm the Sox, I use Walker as trade bait now while he's ranked that high.

I am also surprised to see Beard at #22. He hasn't impressed me yet. Beard's speed notwithstanding, I'm much more impressed by Ramos and Rodriguez.

Bobby: Hey, that's not a homerun.
Kramer: Oh, come on, Bobby. That's just as good!

Stiever has been a great success story this year. It looks like he's finally getting noticed. Also nice to see Codi Heuer make the list. He's had a promising season after being drafted in the 6th round last year. I haven't heard much about Luis Meises, who is #30 on the list.

Hopefully some of the talent on the AZL and DSL teams start to break through as they move their way up. Players like Benyamin Bailey, DJ Gladney, and Ronaldo Guzman.

Agreed about Beard. I wonder what they see in him to rank him a top 30 over other players?

Walker's ranking does seem a bit high to me, too. My hope is that at least one of Rutherford, Basabe, Walker, Gonzalez, or Adolfo can become a good OF in the majors. I'm not sold on any one of them, but maybe at least one of the five will break through.

Charlotte lost 6-5 giving up the winning run in the 9th after tying it in the bottom of the 8th.

Anderson 2/5 H R RBI
Robert 2/5

Fulmer 2.2 IP 4 H 2 R 1 ER 6 K (BS)

Birmingham lost 8-7 in 10

Not great but it's still an improvement from his outings recently.

FWIW, Heuer and Mieses made the list before the update.

There's a Mieses capsule report here.

Also, Jimenez fell off the list due to graduating to the majors.

It looks like McClure had a rough 1st inning and then settled down nicely after that.

Encouraging to see a great outing by Tyler Johnson. He looked great at W-S last year but missed up to June 17 this year due to injury. He looks like a potential future bullpen asset.

It's been frustrating to see Basabe's season slowed by injury. Hopefully he's coming around with his bat. He runs out of options on opening day 2021, so hopefully he won't miss too much more time the rest of this season and next year.

Luis Robert was just hit in the hand with a pitch in Charlotte today. Would like to see that happen much less.

I saw him pitch when Kanny was in Lexington. I can't attest to the accuracy of the radar gun, but Vernell was hitting 88 and 89 with his fastball. He threw it by a lot of batters and it looked fast, but he never hit 90 when I was looking at the speed.
