I didn't see that they also have a writeup about the top 10 lists. Here's what they said about SPs:

https://www.mlb.com/news/2019-top-10...?tid=151437456

They give Kopech the award for best slider (and discuss him in the best fastball section), and Cease the award for best curve. Also list Cease as "most improved".

IIRC, Cease is most improved after TJ surgery. So can we step back from the cliff over Kopech?

Good catch. Maybe they could be convinced to part with one of their top LHP for one from among the Adolfo/Basabe/Walker/Gonzalez tier.

The 2B list is out today. Madrigal is listed #3 overall for 2Bs, and named best defender and highest floor among 2B prospects.

I think you wait one more year to trade from the OF pool.

With pitchers, I'd want 2 for 1 (or maybe 1.5 for 1 - work that value out somehow).

BP's 2019 top 100 prospects list is out: https://www.baseballprospectus.com/n...s-the-top-101/

White Sox have 6 players in the top 100:

4. Eloy Jiminez
15. Nick Madrigal
24. Michael Kopech
26. Dylan Cease
45. Luis Robert
76. Dane Dunning

Before anyone makes comments about the player at #3- yes, we know, it was a bad trade in hindsight, we can't do anything about it now.

Well, not all teams placed players in the top 100.

Two years in a row and counting......

The drafting still leaves a lot to be desired. After all these high picks, Madrigal is it.
The 2016/2017 reaching didn't help.

There is little truth to that statement. While true Burger is not in the top 100, it is due to injury, not performance. Colins is not performing, but if you look closely at the 2016 draft it is very weak, even at the top. Moniak, Pint, Ray, Garrett, Quantrill, Manning were all drafted ahead of Collins and are non on this particular list. Lewis, Groome, Lowe and Benson were drafted in order right after Collins and are also off this list.

You have mentioned this mythical "reaching" many times and it continues to be based on nothing but your own opinion.

I'm curious why you say this. Didn't he have around 100 walks last year, showed some power and had a good on-base percentage?

But the defense...

Yeah I was curious about that too. The big negative about Collins season last year was that he was inconsistent. He started off in a terrible slump for the first month or so, and ended the season with another slump that was just as bad. But in between he was one of the most dominant hitters in the league.

Very true, but walk rates do not often translate from the minors to the majors. I'm concerned about the lack of contact and defense, although the defense is improving. I'm not overly optimistic about Collins, but in no way do I think that he's a lost cause.

The catching position, in general, seems to be lacking in terms of defense and calling games. Not just for the White Sox but all throughout baseball.
