Hansen pitched 3 innings tonight. Gave up 4 hits and 2 runs but most importantly in my opinion 6 Ks and 0 BBs.

42 pitch first inning from what I read.

Whoever is calling shots down there, I really like that decision. Those stressful innings like that are the worst for an arm.

"Dylan Cease had a long, but not particularly rough first inning: Only one run crossed the plate, and it was unearned. He through 42 pitches (23 strikes and 19 balls), so he was all over the place, and was removed after one inning. There has been no indication it was for injury, so let’s assume it is because of command issues."

Luis Gonzalez went 3-4. I hope he continues to progress. Dude could be a real find.

Booker heating up and rebounding at AA- 4 hits last night, hitting .368 over his last 10. At his age and with the need for room at AA next spring (for Gonzalez and Rutherford at least), I think he gets pushed to AAA coming out of spring training.

Colton Turner is 27 at AA, but what a season for him, 7-2, 0.86 ERA.

Basabe 2 for 4 tonight and hitting .325 in his last 10 games.

Gonzalez 3 for 4 with 2 doubles. He's hitting .325 in his 48 games since his promotion to W-S.

Gonzalez also has a .919 OPS as he's been slugging .540. The guy has been a doubles machine and has enough pop for a few home runs too.

He could seriously be a .300 hitter with 20+ dingers and a decent OBP down the road.

No one seems to mention Tanner Banks, but he's been doing pretty well as he climbs the organizational ladder. His under-the-radar status may be because he's always a little older than the class at which he's pitching (he's now 26), and maybe his stuff is not jaw dropping.

When I saw him pitch in Lexington while he was at Kannapolis, his fastball sat around 89-90, so that would need to increase a bit for him to keep advancing (has anyone seen him lately and know his velocity of his fastball now?). He averages about .74 Ks per inning, which is low, but his ERA is also low, 2.63 at Birmingham (and 2.54 at Winston-Salem last year).

In any case, whatever his stuff looks like, he's been pretty effective at every level. No matter what the level, he gets guys out and pitches 6 innings per outing on average.

Can he can keep moving up and eventually reach the majors?

LHP Bennett Sousa, this year's 10th round pick, is off to a nice start in professional baseball. Between Great Falls and Kanny, here are his numbers this year:

26.1 IP, 1 ER, 15 H, 6 BB, 34 K.

Zack Collins continues with the absurdly high K rate coupled with his really good BB rate. I wonder if we could see our first 2-outcome player: walks and hits.

I think you answered your own question when you mentioned his age/stuff.

Looks like a future mop-up, end of bullpen guy at best.

I wonder who fills the fifth spot in the pitching staff next year. It is looking like Spencer Adams and Guerrero have outside shots to do it.
