Late round picks can be nice surprises but shouldn't be counted on.

Oh no doubt it would be a lightning in a bottle success if he ever became a good major league player and we should hardly be penciling him in for anything. I was just pointing out that saying a player drafted that late has never made it to the majors is not correct even if it's extremely rare.

What is the outlook for Luis Gonzalez? He seems to be off to a great start this year at Kanny. He was our 3rd round pick last spring.

Sox signed outfielder Michael Saunders and assigned him to Charlotte.

Alec Hansen threw well in his first rehab start in Extended ST.

Working 92-95. Was filling the strike-zone according to report.

Good news.

Eric Longenhagen

@longenhagen

Alec Hansen is on a mound. 92-95 secondaries are rusty, slider (4) 85-87, change (4) 85, curve 80 (5). Filled the strike zone up, which is most important as far as I'm concerned. No Lou Bob today, sounds games like next week for him.

NBC Sports Chicago will be airing the Winston Salem Dash game on Thursday at 6:00. It'll be the first of seven Dash games they'll telecast this season.

Promising would be how I'd describe it. Decent speed, good arm, showing a bit of power. He's playing lower level competition, we'll see when he gets to Winston Salem.

Another good outing by Blake Battenfield yesterday for Kannapolis. In 9 starts this season, he has an ERA of 1.77 with 49 K and only 8 BB. He was our 17th round pick last year.

Excellent news. It's very disappointing that he (and Robert) will have missed the first 2 months of a 5 month season. But in the end, I won't complain too much if they come back completely healthy and go on to have excellent seasons.

He's been a stud.

That whole Intimidators stafff has a few intriguing arms.

The Dash needs an influx of pitching here soon. They have been getting pounded the last few weeks.

Both might be candidates for AFL, at least Robert for sure.

Gavin Sheets finally hit his first HR last night and this morning has hit his 2nd.

I was getting worried about his power situation.

Winston Salem has cooled off considerably here the last few weeks.

There are about 10 guys at Kanny that deserve promotions to W-S.

WSox being hyper conservative with promotions so far- once we get past Memorial Day- some of these guys need to get moving-

Jimenez to AAA
Booker to AA to open up a slot of Robert and/or L. Gonzalez
A number of guys at Kanny that need to be moved- not being tested at all at Kanny (Rivera -SS, Blackman-2B, Henzman and Battenfield- starting pitchers), there are a few others- but blocked by at Winston Salem by higher quality prospects at 3rd and in the outfield.

Sheets was asked about his lack of power early this season. He replied that he was specifically working on making contact and not striking out, even though he knew he would be sacrificing his power for the time being.
