Thank God I saw that after every blown ninth-inning lead I've witnessed this season.

Who'd have bunted in the 9th? Not us, for sure. But realize that bunting works sometimes and not bunting doesn't work sometimes. The difference may be less than 10 runs a season! So the decision is insignificant in comparison to the real job of a manager, getting the most out of his players, some of whom are in desperate need of a sports shrink.

He put Pałka in the same position he failed at in the 8th inning. Way to go guys. And a shout out to Francona for not managing to win.

I think Palka might be something special; can't wait to watch his cont development next year. I cannot remember anyone this clutch since Joe Crede.

Great win. Canít believe Cleveland didnít put Palka on first base to create a force at home or set up the DP.

Five games left and need one win to avoid 100.

Fun final game of the season. Waited out the rain at Turtle's with a few brews and sandwiches. Timed it perfectly that we finished wiping the rain water off our seats in time for first pitch.

Yolmer's Little League triple off a bunt was a great start, capped by Avi's homer. Big Game James struggled, of course, but ultimately kept the Sox in the game. Could not believe Francona let Palka bat with first base open. I guess he believes in advanced metrics ó there is no such thing as clutch.

Stayed until the glorious end.

My buddy who sits in the first row behind the Sox dugout left in the 6th and gave me his seats (I was one section over in 137, row 33). Great place to watch the bottom of the Ninth unfold. Garcia's bunt was just shy of perfect. Great execution.

Watching Yolmer dump the Gatorade on Chuck Garfien who was setting up to interview Palka was pure comedy gold. He was drenched.

Yolmer's "infield bunt triple" to start the game was great to see. Nice to know the good teams screw up sometimes.

And also congrats on his ERA of a sharp 5.08, which is a considerable improvement from his first 2 years on the southside. What an acquisition!

Not that it matters to you, but Shields' ERA is 4.53.

You're right - I was reading his FIP.
It would matter to me if it was, say, good. Acquiring players with Shields-like production is the long-term the problem with this org., and the reason we are subjected to this blight. And he, in particular, is the poster boy of this era.
