Wow - great boost to Houston's pennant hopes since his still a pretty good pitcher. Detroit sends $16M to Houston along with Verlander, so the Astros are on the hook for $40M of his salary over the next 2 full seasons.

Verlander was selected #2 overall by Detroit in 2004. The Padres passed him up in favor of Matt Bush. How did Detroit not have the #1 pick that year since they lost 119 games the year before?

Glad to see we won't face Verlander more than two times a year now. None, if the timing works out.

Good for Houston. Hope they win the AL.

Just glad Verlander didn't become a Cub. His potential as a savior for them would have been nauseating to see in print and on TV.

Naw. He would have blown out his elbow and missed 2018 with TJ.

+1. I read that the Cub prospect cabinet is pretty bare after all their wheeling and dealing the last 2 years.

I'm never this lucky, not that I am rooting for an injury for anyone. Especially after all the injuries the Sox had to deal with on guys making their MLB debut, if not within their first week or so.
