Don't project your own hang ups onto professional athletes.

Thank you.

(A clarification is needed: does PB&J count as a cold sandwich?)

It's only human nature to have difficulty getting enthused about playing when it's clear that management has written off the next few seasons.

Certainly, these guys are trying to win a ballgame each and every day they take the field. You don't get to the highest level of professional sports without being a competitive person. That said, I'm sure any of these guys, if they're being honest, would tell you that the intensity level is lower when the winning and losing doesn't matter.

And make no mistake about it, the winning and losing doesn't matter for this White Sox club for the remaining 70 or so games of this season.

This is where Renteria comes in. He's gotta convince these guys not to waste this time. Get better individually, play for a job for next year, play for a contract, whatever it takes to get motivated.

If management has written off the next few seasons then management HAS to change. This is an audition. The best players play. Those that cannot play fundamental baseball or "think" the game must be moved out.

This is a time of great opportunity: which players seize that opportunity and those that let it slip through their hands should be identified and evaluated at season's end.

I expect all of those guys to go out and compete. That is all you can ask of them. You can't blame the players for lack of talent, and in the MLB, lack of effort gets you replaced. This is a great chance for a bunch of AAAA guys to play their way on to someone's MLB team next year.

It is an audition but it is also a time for Growth. I Don't mind, for example, a guy like Anderson learning on the job up here. He isn't hurting us. It is more important that he learns to adjust in the bigs so in 2019/2020 when we are ready to compete, HE is ready to compete. On the flip, we will also have a good idea by then if he is a guy we can trust, or one who needs to be replaced.

It's a rebuild.

We're in phase one, get as many prospects as possible and try out fringe guys for big league jobs.

You can't make decisions on these players without the playing time. Houston got Altuve out of this process, though that's not likely to happen again.

I don't mind a few ugly losses as long as the management is evaluating who comes to play and who isn't and makes moves accordingly for next season.

Maybe if they, umm, played better in the first place they wouldn't be in this position. They can start by looking in the mirror.

I don't understand your point. Frazier and Melky have both improved. So has Abreu. Avi has cooled off a bit. So basically, the vets (position players) are playing well and the younger players are getting a chance to see if they have what it takes to stick. The club record doesn't enter into the equation.

Do your job and have a shot to establish a career in the bigs, wherever you end up.

This didn't start overnight, the biggest problem is that this franchise just can't produce productive posistion players because not enough attention and money has been given to the minor league system. That gives us guys picked up from other teams like Cabrera, Frazier, Davidson, Abreu (Cuba) and Avi who are decent players but probably aren't going to win you a pennant, they all have flaws, add that to the horrible pitching staff and we have a team that right now will be lucky to win 65 games.

I get what you are saying. It's frustrating but hopefully some of these guys play for pride. The ones that don't will be replaced soon enough. They are professionals and should act as such, or else it is that much easier to get rid of them.

Highly ****ing unlikely. There are a couple of dozen posts in the Clubhouse today, making the same pro-teardown arguments that have been made "over and over."
