Default Will the White Sox retire Konerko's number?

The ever-vigilant son of SMO noticed today the the White Sox retired numbers were no longer on the wall in left / center, but were instead painted on the rim above the media boxes. (Cut him some slack, he's been away at college not learning anything...)

He also notice a big space in between #11 and #16. He wanted to know if they were saving that spot for PK after this year. Wouldn't surprise me, I said, but I hadn't heard anything official. Anyone else notice this? Do you think PK will join the Ring of Honor, even before any HOF talk?

It is a given that they made that space for 14.

Sure why not, since Baines number is retired, Pauls has to be and I expect that to be done this year.

Absolutely.

Will they also retire Buehrle's number? Not that 56 is a commonly-worn number, anyway.

I think it should be. If you retire Fisk's with the Sox, retire MBs.

Fisk was a HOFer, if Buehrle becomes one that will mean he will have his best years ahead of him and many of them. At that point his Sox years will be diminished. If not, 28 should be retired before 56.

Yep, this was discussed at length during the opening week of the season.

Definitely Konerko; Buehrle? Honestly, I'm not sure if they will.

I used to think that they were both shoe-ins given they both finish their career with the Sox. Of course, that didn't happen. I don't think Buehrle gets one.

56 will be retired. Most of his best years were in our uniform and he anchored our rotation for a decade. No way he doesn't get his number between Frank and Fisk.

As for 14, I'd be shocked if it isn't between Aparicio and Lyons at the end of whatever ceremony the Sox hold for Paulie. I believe the Orioles did this, or something similar, with Ripken.

Default Just Wondering

Is there going to be some type of ceremony for Konerko during the last homestand? Will there be a Paul Konerko Day? If the White Sox are going to do something for Konerko wouldn't it make sense to announce it now?
