Maybe he's upset over the amount of money paid out in their deals? I understand for a lot of guys that's an incredible amount of money and in some cases yea they aren't worth it...but MLB is making money hand over fist, nobody is going broke and teams can afford to pay those tremendous amounts. A player is worth whatever a team is willing to give them.

Nothing wrong with that, that's simply business 101 in a capitalistic society.

Roster finalized

http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...ng-day-roster/

Asche makes the team, Delmonico does not.

Soto makes the team, Smith does not.

Davidson, as expected, makes the team.

Sox decide to keep Rule 5 Dylan Covey even though it was clear from spring that he is not ready.

Ynoa and Swarzak also make the team.

Rodon will start on DL meaning that eventually one of the above three relievers will have to go... assuming no other injuries or collapses.

And that's a wrap on Spring Training.

Surprised Delmonico didn't make it, he's young but I thought he earned at least a look see.

Covey and Ynoa are stiffs who shouldn't even be on a team that's rebuilding...but I guess in the long run it doesn't matter this year. Ynoa made it I guess because he's out of options but he's not good at all. Not as bad as Chris Beck...but bad.

Too bad about Smith. He deserved to go north over Soto.

I presume that he has options, so he'll be back.

Agree that Kevan Smith should have made the team over Soto. And yes, Delmonico has options. If you are a rebuilding team why not bring the kids if they performed better in spring training (and they did)?

I agree with you on Smith.
I like Delmonico...but don't see a problem letting him log more time playing everyday in AAA for a while. He doesn't have that many AAA at bats.

I don't necessarily think that Gordon Beckham would have had more success had he been left in the minors longer to "hone his craft", it certainly wouldn't have hurt. Many posters around here have argued that he was ruined by being brought up too early.

I'm one of them. I don't know about "ruined" but I do think he, like most Sox top prospects, was rushed. The difference for me is that I don't have the same expectations for Delmonico that I did for Beckham. I expect Delmonico to be, at best, a first guy off the bench pinch-hitter/part-time DH type of player. I'm a lot less worried about rushing and ruining him than a guy we expect to be a star. I don't expect Delmonico to be here once the Sox get good though he might be that first guy off the bench.
