People may have called about Mazara’s availability, figuring that maybe he could be had for chump change.

It looks like Rick Hahn heard the word “chump,” Jerry Reinsdorf heard the word “change,” and Nomar Mazara + cash will become White Sox property in exchange for Steele Walker + an international bonus amount equal to, if not greater than, the cash being sent with Mazara.
Hate the idea of the trade, but reports are that the Marlins and Cards are in on him too. Possibly others.

Seeing reports that Brandon Nimmo is available from the Mets. This is exactly who the Sox should be going after.

I don't like losing Walker, but, Mazara in RF for ~6 mil leaves a ton of money open for FA. If this is a move that say, opens up the wallet for Cole, then yah, do it.

I am completely against bringing Avi back. Been there, no thanks.

Puig intrigues me, but not sure he would be a great role model for the kids.

There are plenty of guys in sports with off-field issues far worse than anything Puig has ever done on-field.

I just don't know that I want someone with the attitude and work ethic issues Puig has had rubbing off on a Moncada or Robert. If one of the reasons Jose Abreu was worth a way above market contract was leadership, then the strike needs to be given to Puig there. In terms of talent he is the perfect gamble, but not if he could mess up their development.

Sure, you leave money open. Unfortunately, that money will be needed to upgrade other areas in an attempt to replace the production you’re losing on account of Nomar Mazara ****ing sucking at baseball.

I can see that! You're on a roll.

And there goes Cole. $324/9 to the Yankees.
