Default Current Top Prospect List

Just playing around- I removed Robert, Madrigal, Kopech, Collins- under an assumption they are likely to be on the active, 26 man roster as we break spring training.

So here's our "Top 20" prospect list prior to the next draft- very heavy on pitching and outfielders, a few corner infielders (Vaughn, Sheets, Burger)- only one middle infielder (Yolbert Sanchez) and one catcher (Zavala).

1. Vaughn
2. Dunning
3. Stiever
4. Basabe
5. Rutherford
6. Adolfo
7. Gonzalez
8. Sheets
9. Thompson
10. Dalquist
11. Pilkington
12. Burger
13. Lambert
14. Johnson
15. Hamilton
16. Beard
17. Sanchez
18. Burdi
19. Heuer
20. Zavala

No Flores? Is he just not regarded high enough to make the top 20?

I used this as my reference- he's ranked #27 here (before removing the guys I mentioned)

With middle infield a seeming organizational weakness (after Anderson and Madrigal), drafting #11 in 2020 might put the Sox in position to draft the current #11 prospect, Mount Carmel SS Ed Howard, from Chicago. Yes, I realize draft rankings rise and fall between January and June, and high school players are often crapshoots, but that would make a neat story.

Interesting. Looks like he played on the Jackie Robinson West team in 2014. I thought the name sounded familiar.

The farm is pretty top heavy and this list shows it. Burdi is all the way down at #25 at this point, which feels about right. I'm hoping some of these players will step forward this season.

An interesting thread where White Sox players place quite well. https://www.mlb.com/news/prospect-an...-system-survey

Baseball America says keep an eye on Benyamin Bailey https://twitter.com/baseballamerica/...390348800?s=21

Rated 9th in the DSL league. 6'4" and 215 lbs at the age of 18. Tons of raw power, good speed, but apparently he already has a great batting eye; he has a 21% walk rate

It's way too early for anyone to call him a stud but he's already showing flashes. I like that plate discipline.

Crazy that they signed him for only $35,000. Also crazy how many quality MLB players these small Latin American countries churn out.

It's pretty hard to get a read on players in the DSL as there are mostly guys from age 16 to age 20 playing there. Nice to see a White Sox kid standing out for once though, last guy to come out of there an make the majors was Yolmer. Sad that last year was the first winning season since 2011.

Thanks, Dave Wilder.

Agreed, what a mess that guy created. There are many reasons why the White Sox were awful in the 2010s, but the Wilder scandal has to be in the top 2 or 3 reasons.

Baseball America has updated their top 100 for 2020. The White Sox have 4 players:

2. Luis Robert
30. Andrew Vaughn
33. Michael Kopech
48. Nick Madrigal

3 of those 4 players may likely not be prospects in 2021. I'm guessing a few players at the lower levels make the jump for next season.

FWLIW, MLB.com also has the Sox with the #1 overall OF prospect (Robert), the #1 1B prospect (Vaughn), and the #2 2B prospect (Madrigal).

And none of them came via the big sell off. Two draftees and an international FA.
