I think they make the playoffs, but lose because of that pitching. They need to fix those holes.
The media is thinking that Darvish alone will propel them to glory. Even with Darvish, that rotation is still kinda meh. We may have traded Q at just the right time (he wasn't all that great last year), and Hendricks, while good, isn't a true ace. Lester is on the downswing, and Chatwood will likely be mediocre. Now, anything can happen, but this rotation is far from the best in the league.

And Cub fans everywhere were talking about how Happ is on the fast track for the HoF after his home run. I'm just over the idolization of every player on this Cub team being shoved down the throat of everyone.

You're right that they'll make the playoffs, but who knows, maybe Milwaukee will surprise everyone and make the Cubs win a Wild Card game to truly get in.

This piece has the rotation at 4th in baseball by WAR. If Lester holds up and Hendricks continues to somehow consistently outperform his metrics, 4th is fairly realistic. Top 10 would be a floor, it would be logical to conclude.

Kind of like the Cubs fan who told me right after the trade that Jiminez was just the next Soler.

He's been one of the best pitchers in the last 5 combined seasons. He's at least a two. Let's not start knocking him down just because he want to the (gasp) Cubs.

Yeah - some folks here would call Jose Abreu a below-average player if he donned the Cubbie pajamas.

Which three?

It’s early but both Lester, Darvish looked very human. And today, Quintana was rocked by the Marlins offensive juggernaut. 6 ER in 6IP with 4 BB.

Against a bad Marlins team their starters overall got lit up and beat up. Bullpen was terrific though.

The Marlins gutted their team, and the Cubs barely got a split. Let's hope the next 158 games bring similar results.

I think I saw somewhere how all the prognosticators picked the Marlins for the NLCS this year, so Cub fans should not feel bad.

The predictions were delivered by flying pigs.

Since this is the Cubs thread... What's with the commercials on the radio where they can't say "Cubs"? On WDRV "The Drive", they've been hyping a live broadcast where you can win tickets to see "some northside baseball against the Atlanta Braves". Are they not allowed to say "Cubs"? That is, unless they pay a stipend to the Rickets family? This has been going on for a couple years that I have noticed.
