It is a better use of the playing time than giving it to Trayce Thompson.

Once Avi and Leury are back I imagine the Sox would move Leury back to the infield, which was where they wanted him at the start of the year before all the injuries hit. That probably means Rondon and Thompson are out. Or they keep Rondon up and send a reliever down. With the starting rotation looking better lately, they might not need an 8-man bullpen.

I gotta tell you, I don't miss Leury and Delmonico in the outfield. As bad as Tilson and Thompson are with the bats, they catch the ball. The Sox have had a better winning percentage since the infielders playing outfield went on the disabled list.

I know what you're saying, esp since Nicky hit about a single a week, but the starting pitching has had half a clue and the bullpen likewise in that same time frame. Cause and effect or the reverse?

Doesn't the better pitching have a common time line with Castillo's trip to the penalty box? Just saying.

Leury and Delmonico might not be the best answer from a W/L perspective but they need to be playing because if they hit like they are capable of hitting they become add-ons for potential trades. As good as Engel is defensively he's got zero trade value because he simply cannot hit. Obviously the jury is still out on Tilson.

Emotionally I want to win as many games as I can this season, but from a long term perspective I want to get as much as I can for the pieces the Sox have to to trade. Leury and Nicky might have at least some trade value because of their bats.

I think they both already were hitting what they are going to hit in the future (extremely low .700s or worse OPS for Leury, sub-.750 OPS for Delmonico). Since their bats arenít really that good to begin with, and their gloves are downright bad, I donít see any potential add-on trade value coming from either player. In fact, I would consider any reps they get over Palka to be a waste of time, at least until Palka cools off. Then there is the impending return of Avi, who is not going to be benched in favor of either Leury or Delmonico.

In other words, donít hurry back, guys.

Aargh! I hope the Sox consider replacing Jones with another position player on the active roster. I suspect we will see the return of Bummer, Minaya or Infante.

Juan ****ing Minaya. called back.

Reminds me of the cockroach from the movie Wall-E.

I can't wait to turn the page on the bottom third of this current 40 man roster. Just so much dead weight.

Supposedly he was asked in the locker room, "done for the year?" He said, "Prob (as in probably)"

Guy needs to retire and find other work, he can't stay healthy, period.

Really? Renteria called the injury "very minor". Link.

I just know what I read, I think it was from "Barstool Dave" on Twitter. RR may be right and Jones' comment was before any MRI was done but with this guy he can get a hangnail and be out six weeks.

Remember Alec Hansen had a "forearm strain" and was out how long?

Here's what my trainer friend said about this for what it may be worth: "Uh oh. Not a good sign for a previous UCL guy. This is the primary muscle that supports the medial elbow. Each pitch puts enough stress on the elbow to injure the UCL. The muscles, of which the pronator is the largest, are the only structures still holding it together. So this injury doesn't necessarily mean the UCL is injured although its possible, but it does mean he continues to put excessive stress to the area."
