This post hardly seemed to merit its own thread, but I thought maybe a more inclusive post on past players could take off. I.e., the Esteban Loaiza post could have gone here!
I live in Japan, and went to a Japanese spring training game yesterday between the Chunichi Dragons and the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters. Imagine my surprise when Dayan Viciedo stepped up to the plate as the clean-up hitter for the Dragons! He was playing 1B.
I figured I'd look him up, and learned that Dayan has played for the Dragons for two seasons and was selected to the Japanese All-Star game during his first year (2016) in the league. Pretty cool!
He did, however, exhibit some long, loopy, off-balance swings while going 0-2 in the game I watched yesterday. I had to laugh. But hey, he had at least one respectable season for the White Sox, so figured I'd update you all on his current situation!
