Gonzalez hasn't cracked 200 innings too many times in his career. We definitely need another SP.

Hopefully more to come. But if not and this is the main SP we sign this offseason then yikes.

Though I've never seen you pitch, I'm going to call b.s. on your "better than Covey" claim.

I wonder if Grandal had anything to do with the signing, since they were together last year.

Any word on terms?

Not even on the Sox Twitter feed yet so I'm guessing no terms yet.

You've seen Covey pitch. That speaks for itself. Altho I'll allow that I may have oversold my abilities a bit there

In any case, moves made that push Covey further away from the bump are welcome. Don't need to see any more of him.

If Gonzalez can toss 200 innings and keep the Sox in games with quality starts, I'm all for it.

If he's the replacement for Nova and Keuchel is on the way- I'm happy. if he's who we're signing instead of Keuchel (or Wheeler, etc.)- then I am not happy.

I'm fine with them signing Gio *if* they go ahead and get a higher quality SP (such as Ryu) this offseason.

Gio Gonzalez has been involved in 3 White Sox trades:
Dec. 2005 - traded to Phillies along with Rowand for Thome
Dec. 2005 - traded back to the Sox along with Gavin Floyd for Freddy Garcia
Dec. 2008 - traded to Oakland along with Ryan Sweeney and future HOFer De Los Santos for Nick "Captain Morgan" Swisher

This can't be it, can it? Gio can keep Rodon's spot warm until he gets back (whenever that may be), but they need another pitcher who is much better than Gonzalez. And I'm hoping the Sox didn't sign him for more than one year.

With Gonzalez signed, I'd prefer not to have 40% of the starts go to soft-tossing lefties. I'd rather have Ryu than Keuchel. And I still haven't given up on Lopez in the rotation.

Solid acquisition. Gio has a track record of being a solid, back-of-the-rotation innings eater. Now get Ryu.

Let's just cut out the middle man and go straight to Wilson Betemit!

This is the key point here. We have a quality major leaguer with a positive WAR for the back end of the rotation. Not seeing any numbers yet, but if this is the second best pitching acquisition, then, well done!

Hate that the Sox are going to yet another familiar face, but at the same time, the numbers don't lie. He remains as solid as ever, and I hope he still has some good left in him.

And you signed his catcher from last year. He'd probably tell you if he noticed any dropoff.
