If he moves to 3rd after the ball is caught he can score the tying run on a wild pitch or passed ball without the benefit of a base hit.
No, Moncada needs to be half way and McCann needs to be nearly at 2B. If he knocks it down instead of catching it they need to be sure they stand a good chance of scoring. It took an amazing catch to stop that from clearing the bases.

I'm surprised he's only missing 3 games for that.

Abreu: team leader and player all should emulate should know when to tag up at his age and experience level. That's on him.

That said, yes, the coaches (and others) should be replaced at the end of the season.

Abreu did apologize to the team and put the blame on himself.

Right, that's why you have coaches to wake them up out of their slumber.

So getting lost in the play is no excuse but not listening to your coach is really bad.

(That's assuming the coach was screaming at him to tag.)

Good for him. He knows he should never left 3rd base. He should have just stood there. Why? If the ball falls, he could have walked home. If the ball was grabbed (which it was), there is no why the CF could have righted himself and tossed him out at the plate. Abreu knows this but fundamental breakdowns are disturbing.
