Ruiz retired Jose Rondon to end the 9th and we're going to extras. Mendick will start on second.

Tilson reached on an infield single but then Zavala grounded out to second with them getting Mendick at the plate. 1st and 2nd two outs and Robert is batting.

Robert can't get it done and now it's up to the bullpen to preserve the tie.

FYI Collins got pulled at the end of 9. He was playing 1B, might mean he's coming up and won't be part of the playoff roster even if they make it, but I'm speculating.

Minaya can't hold it after Norfolk bunted the runner to third gave up an infield single allowing Jose Rondon to score the winning run and their season is over...

Jose Rondon scoring the winning run for Norfolk is the most 2019 White Sox thing ever.

Second place goes to Collins not being able to catch throws at first base.

Nah, both of those rank behind Juan Minaya giving up the winning run.

It's tough on the extra inning relievers. Guy placed on second got bunted to third. He then got a strikeout and an IBB but an infield single finished the game.

Lame excuse. It was tough on the Norfolk reliever (Jimmy Yacabonis, for the record) in the top of the 10th, since Tilson led off with a bunt single and advanced the automatic runner (Mendick) to third with no outs.

And then Zavala hit into a fielder's choice and Mendick was thrown out at the plate. That's bad coaching and bad execution.

Charlotte went meekly after that.

I have to say that although the Sox did a good job acquiring talent quickly in the rebuild, the coaches are not up to the task. The only minor league manager I like is Jirschele.

Which is a different issue than Minaya giving up the run. You expect to score that runner from second. Charlotte failed to do so. It's the equivalent of getting stuffed in college OT from the 25 YL.

Yeah, the stupid contact play works maybe 20% of the time, if that. If Mendick just stays at 3rd, the Torres fly ball with 1 out has a chance to get that run in. Our organization just loves that contact play. I still don't know why.

Meh. All expectations aside on that runner scoring from 2nd, I’m treating myself to a lovely chicken dinner the day Juan Minaya leaves this organization permanently.

Fielder was right. I can’t think of a more “2019 White Sox” ending. The last event of Charlotte’s season featured Juan Minaya failing.

Robert is USA Today's minor league player of the year https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ar/2204281001/

I guess that's another box checked!

The season is over for all Sox farm teams except Great Falls. How did our noteworthy prospects do? This is just off the top of my head - not an in depth analysis by any means. Let me know if I missed anyone or if you think players should be ranked otherwise. I didn't include 2019 draft picks.

Successful year:
Robert - complete turnaround from a disappointing 2018. See you in mid-April.
Madrigal - drafted only last year and he finished out the year hitting .331 with a .822 OPS over 29 games at AAA.
Stiever - Outstanding year for the 2018 5th round pick.
Collins - huge turnaround in offense after demotion back to AAA.
Sheets - looked pretty good once he got adjusted to AA. Power finally starting to show.
Walker - slumped a bit in July, but had good numbers in June and August.
Flores - pitched well when not injured. Missed over 2 months with oblique injury
Others: McClure, Mendick, Heuer, Mercedes, Sousa, Sosa

Mixed results:
Rutherford - very slow start at AA. Like Walker: good June, slumped in July and rebounded in Aug. Still lacks power, but is also still young for his level.
L. Gonzalez - his progress stalled somewhat this year. Turns 24 next week.
Pilkington - looked good at times, but also struggled at times.

Disappointing:
Basabe - Didn't show much and missed a lot of time with injuries. 1 more option year left
Adolfo - missed almost entire season due to elbow surgery
Burdi - struggled in return from TJS. Only 19 IP before going down with another season-ending injury.
Fulmer - time is just about up for this 8th overall pick.
Hansen - 2nd lousy season in a row after stellar 2017
Bryce Bush - injured and struggled offensively. But, still only 19.

Injured:
Dunning, Lambert: TJS
Burger - 2nd full season missed. Might be tough to come back from that.
