Engel is better than Cordell defensively, and neither can hit. No reason to keep the inferior player.

Well if they sign a RF FA then then they can keep Leury and Goins and send whoever is left down after Robert comes up.

He's cheap has a .700+ OPS and can cover multiple positions. What more do you really want in a bench player?

It's just my opinion, but I think both Garcia and Sanchez have proved they have particular value for us as the rebuild goes forward. If they both want fair new contracts, I'd do it. There's still a spot for Mendick to fill in all around the diamond. I wish he got some legit OF work this year just to see if he can also run down flies to find ABs.

How much can it really cost to keep two guys who learned to play together and become nice pieces on some really bad Sox teams?

A better defender, and Sanchez and Engel both qualify. I think Ryan Goins’s production with the bat is what they call a “fluke.”

Arb 3 raise off a $1.55 million salary for Leury, plus Arb 3 raise off a $4.625 million salary for Yolmer. It’s just a guess, but maybe roughly $10 million ($3.5 and $6.5), which would be roughly a $4 million bump from last year’s combined $6 million? Non-tendering Yolmer and replacing him with Mendick would free up some payroll, but I would rather pay the extra money and have the depth on the bench.
