Yeah, I totally understand the concern about missing out on a top prospect because of a few pointless wins (Fulmer instead of Benintendi, Burger instead of Adell). But, wins can also be a big boost for a team that has bottomed out and is looking to contend in the near future. I can't complain about taking 2 of 3 from the Astros in a game where McCann and Jimenez murder the baseball.
The MLB draft can be such a crapshoot. Remember that Mike Trout was taken with the #25 pick. Players like Jacob Turner, Aaron Crow, Matt Purke, and Kyle Gibson were taken ahead of him. It's tough to truly say that having the #5 pick will guarantee us a better player than the #9 pick. As you said, having a top 10 pick probably puts us in a pretty good position to draft someone decent.

I'm not even going that deep into it. I just like to see the Sox win. Purely selfish fan joy. I think this team will be a lot better down the stretch anyway if he starting pitching holds up. Once Moncada is back the offense should improve even more.

Schedule is rough, but this team is not going to seriously tank down the stretch anyone expecting or hoping for that is in for a rude awakening.
