I was doing just that which should have been apparent by my comment.

Rationally you always have to be concerned. Yea, he shows flashes of his immense talent, but in no way is consistent. I also think we all have to be patient it took the (Future MVP Baez Just ask any Cub Fan) 3 to 4 years to figure it out I think we can give Moncada a whole year. IMO I wish he'd stay LH when he bats. I think he's better there and less thing to worry about.

I'm also glad the Sox traded for Thompson,, so hopefully they can drop Moncada out of leadoff and bat him 2nd where I think he should be and where I think his future is

That comment was directed at "everyone". Positive or negative, Moncada is a few years away from showing his true abilities.

Fangraphs breaks it down and gives a much better assessment than commenting on Spring Training peformances or a few random at bats. Love or hate, this is a must read if you are wondering about Moncada's past, present and future.

Yoan Moncada’s Approach Is Actually Working

Quote:
If he could cut down his strikeouts just a little bit and lock into his somewhat untapped power, his baserunning and at least average defense would turn him into an All-Star. With no improvements, he’s already an above-average regular in the midst of just his age-23 season. If the strikeouts get higher and the BABIP or ISO get lower, Moncada could fall below average, but given his immense talents and performance thus far, improvement seems more likely than staying the same or getting worse. Moncada isn’t all the way there yet, but his potential is starting to show for the White Sox.

I'm not giving up on him. I think his bottom is likely a solid 2B. I'm pretty sure most of us are expecting an all-star level player considering the hype and what we dealt though..

Prospects are a very inexact science. I don't care where they are ranked, until they produce at the ML level it's nothing but hype

It takes about 1000 major league plate appearances to figure out what kind of hitter a player will be. I would submit that it takes 1000 plate appearances from each side of the plate to figure out what kind of hitter a switch hitter will be.

Against RHP, Moncada has an .841 OPS this year.

This is a “lost” season anyway; it’s the perfect opportunity to give him time and plate appearances to work on his hitting from both side of the plate.

I just read the linked article. The takeaway for me is that Moncada doesn’t swing at pitches out of the zone. He sees pitches well. He has good plate discipline. He barrells the ball when he makes contact. He just needs to work on his bat control when he does swing.

Everything stats wise says his bottom is still a solid player. The question is if he can take the extra step, tap into his tools, and become a great player.

Exactly. And we have the luxury of patience.

Removed from the game due to Managers decision. What’s that all about?

Two extra-base hits in his first two at-bats Monday. Epic bust.
